In June of 1838, a group of Australian Aborigines were brutally
massacred by white vigilantes at Myall Creek in New South Wales.
While such occurrences were sadly common during those times, this
particular incident proved to be a turning point, as it was the
first time whites were tried in a court of law, and found guilty,
for such actions.
This could not have happened without the testimony of a few courageous
individuals who stood against the prevailing prejudices of the day
- a deed that helped begin the culture's slow shift towards recognizing
the equality of all races of man.
This humane spirit is no less important today. Much more than just
a fashionable buzzword, corporate social responsibility is something
Myall truly believes in. In addition to helping our regular clients,
we put our know-how to work for non-profit agencies and other groups
who make our communities a better place to live.
